Designing the guidebook for one of the words most renowned museums.

V&A Guidebook

Problem
If you have been to the V&A, you will quickly realise it’s a museum you can get lost in, figuratively and literally.

The V&A wanted to have a book that was easy to understand, and that also acted as a piece of way-finding, guiding the visitor through the different areas of the museum. As well as this, the book had to be workhorse that would serve as their principal guide for the next 5 years.

Solution
Designed to be modern yet classic, the guidebook had to be accessible to all those that entered the museum. To do this, we worked with the publishing team to make sure the book was easy to navigate, introducing full page maps and a ’top 20’ section that allows visitors to quickly locate the V&A’s most popular objects throughout the museum.

We worked with the V&A to introduce full page maps and a ’top 20’ section that allows visitors to quickly locate the V&A’s most popular objects throughout the museum.

The bulk of the guidebook contains over 250 individually chosen objects by the galleries curators, split into their respective galleries, each with its own short description and accompanying room number. The objects in the book also follow the navigation of the room it sits within, making navigation throughout the galleries even easier.
