Celebrating humans most distant object.

Voyager typeface

Description
Space and typefaces, name a better combo…

For the past few years now I wanted to find a way combine these two interests into one that also paid tribute to the subject of my university major project, the NASA Voyager probes sent out in 1977.

Introducing ‘Voyager’

A typeface that is retro in nature, but modern in its use. Bringing the distant past to the present and celebrating humans most distant object.

Type design / Motion design / Brand design

The typeface is an homage to 1970’s optimism, using simple geometric forms dreamed up from the spherical nature of planets and Voyagers unique slingshot trajectory it took to reach these distant worlds.

The mission objective of the Voyager Interstellar Mission (VIM) was to extend the NASA exploration of the solar system beyond the neighborhood of the outer planets to the outer limits of the Sun's sphere of influence, and possibly beyond.

The grid system allows for a modular system to be made, allowing for consistency and precision of character. A perfect companion to such an expertly crafted machine.
